Modern furniture has always been the decor we wanted our homes to have. They are both stylish and functional which makes the purchase worth it. Because we want these items to last in our homes, we have to make sure that they’re maintained very well. Aside from cleaning tips, the modern furniture needs care to keep them in pristine condition. Here are eight ideas on how to care for your modern furniture at home.

Protective Measures

Modern furniture has to be protected all the time. When you sit on your sofas or when you put drinks on a table, you have to secure the furniture from spills and stains. You can effectively do this by using coasters or cloth pads that can catch the dirt or water and can save your modern furniture items from getting damaged.

Rotate Your Modern Furniture

One good idea to maintain the condition of your modern furniture is to rotate them inside the house. This means you should transfer them from one location to another. For example, you can turn your sofas at a different angle so the “most used” part of the furniture will be placed to an area where it can be used less. You have to rotate them in such a way that the same spot is not used all the time.

Avoid Sunlight

When exposed under the sun, a person may have sunburns or other bodily manifestations. In modern furniture, the sun may have the same damaging effects. The furniture could easily fade in color and durability if frequently exposed under the sun’s rays.

Extremes Of Temperature

Extremes of temperature may also be another cause of damage. You have to place your modern furniture items away from air condition units or heaters so they won’t get exposed to various degrees of temperature all the time.

Cleaning The Furniture

Modern furniture needs regular cleaning. You can dust them or wipe them with a clean piece of cloth. There are also special cleansers designed to clean modern furniture items of different materials. You can purchase these products and maintain the cleanliness of your modern furniture.

Avoid Rough Spots

When dragging your modern furniture items around, be sure to avoid rough spots that can cause damage. Always move them with ease and much precaution so you can be sure of well-maintained modern furniture items.

Frequent Dusting

One good way to care for modern furniture items is to keep them free from dust. As much as possible, you can do the dusting everyday to avoid dirt from settling into the most intricate parts of the furniture.

Polishing

Polishing may be needed by the modern furniture items. There are polishers sold over the market which are intended for modern furniture use alone. You can consider buying these products to maintain the pristine appeal of your modern furniture items.

Intro Timeless Curve is a modern hybrid mix of baroque and hi-tech interiors and is the evolution progression of the ’90s ‘Yuppy’ style. Its a sleek and classy style which can work well if you have the courage to use it.

By the end of 2008 WHoArtNow will have an exclusive range of canvas prints available for Timeless Curve as well as the remaining 3 Interior trends,

‘Vintage Wallpaper’ www.whoartnow.co.uk
Colours ‘Timeless Curve’ isn’t about Colour with the main choices being blacks and greys. If you want colour, add some grey-blue into the mix, or some subtle dark burgundy red. The main colour is black though which causes alot of problems in small, badly lit rooms. I’d only recommend Timeless Curve in large rooms, with large windows for the natural light, and preferably some high ceilings to show off the spaced.

If your unsure you could live with that little colour, fear not as for a total contrast, why not consider a bright red pair of sofas!

‘Timeless Curve’ Colour Palette
Influences As already mentioned, Timeless Curve is a hybrid between baroque and hi-tech style and can trace its roots back to the ’80s style of black on black, which then changed to the ’90s hi-tech. This is the new version of that same trend which has dominated over the last 20 to 30 years.

For decoration, look for retro and classic block images. Vintage wallpaper looks amazing within Timeless Curve and is seeing a huge increase in popularity at the moment for its simple shapes and patterns, but the overall effect is one of elegance.

‘Reverse Abstract’ www.whoartnow.co.uk Conclusion ‘Timeless Curve’ could be very easy and cheap to carry out in an interior if you already have the right furniture from the ’90s ‘yuppy’ style. Select your paint carefully with some tester pots, and pick the right artwork and your almost there! Due to the popularity of the previous versions of this trend, we predict a huge number of people will be creating ‘Timeless Curve’ in their homes throughout 2009.

Feng Shui, you have heard it mentioned but still are unsure what it really is. Well let’s find out the true meaning of Feng Shui. Feng Shui is the ancient Chinese art of placement and stands for wind and water. The Chinese used this system to balance out the energy patterns of their physical environment with spiritual forces. Their ultimate goal was to achieve harmony, comfort, and balance, first within their environment and then within their lives. In the Chinese culture the gentle wind and the clear waters have always been linkedwith good health and a good harvest. So from this good Feng Shui means good livelihood and good fortune. On the other had bad Feng Shui means misfortune and hardship. So Feng Shui is a very important part of the Chinese lifestyle. Feng Shui is based around Taoist and their vision and an understanding of nature. This focuses specifically on the belief that land is a living being and is filled with Chi. The ancient Chinese felt that the land’s energy could either help the kingdom prosper or cause it to fail and fall apart.

There are three principles behind Feng Shui. They involve design, placement, and proportion throughout the space. Without these three principles everything would become unbalanced and interfere with a person’s health and happiness within their environment. The main tools that are used during the Feng Shui analysis is the Ba-Gua which is an octagonal grid that contains the acient symbols of the great I Ching and the compass. The I Ching is an ancient oracle which is what Feng Shui is based around. Knowing the Bagua for both your home and also your work space will be a great help to you to completely understand how the connection of certain specific Feng Shui in certain areas of both your home and work space can be linked to certain areas and parts of your overall life.

Now we move on to putting the Feng Shui into your home. Generally a consultant would come into your home and look at the five elements wood, fire, earth, metal, water (xuan kong flying star (north star), color, positioning of all the furnishings, and offer out cures for the problem areas). The colors associated with Feng Shui are: wood is blue and green, fire is red and some of the items for this would be a tea light or a tamp lamp with a red shade, earth is beige and yellow and the items for this would be a terra cotta pot with soil and a rock statue, water is blue and black and the items here could be a fountain or aquarium, and metal is an accent color made up of silver, gold, copper, and bronze.

When it comes to the positioning of your furniture you should always face it in the direction of all the action such as the front door or street. This will give you the perfect flow of Feng Shui. Yang is considered to be the most active energy. It is usually lively and busy such as a public place or a flowing river. This is generally the most windowed side of your home. It should contain a nice view and it is usually a living or family room. Ying is considered the least energy. This is usually found in the sitting direction of an alley or backyard. Shade trees highlight this area making it quiet and relaxing. This can be the side of the property and you would find the bedrooms in this area.
